This session will explore whether such large-scale investments can offer true value for money to Governments, investors, operators, and passengers. How will digital technology transform the railway?

Digital infrastructure is as important as the physical infrastructure of stations and tracks. Big data, the internet of things, analytics and processes of all kinds mean improved communication: communication between vehicles and equipment for automated signalling, predictive maintenance, and security; communication between service providers and passengers for real-time information, ticketing and infotainment; communication between networks and across continents. This session will explore the digital revolution and how innovation can enhance the customer journey, enhance operational efficiency, and realise ideas that had once seemed impossible.
